Dundee City Council - Waste Management Department Senior Leadership Team.

The Department is responsible for a range of front line environmental services which impact directly on every community and resident within Dundee.
Their future is very exciting and will require creative and inspiring leadership because it is committed to providing quality services and establishing sustainable waste management practices for all our citizens and customers.

During 2004 each of the 5 leaders within the team participated in our Leadership Development Path in different Groups. This meant that each team member was able to build their own strengths and think about their leadership with others who had no mindset or historical baggage about who they are. It also provided an excellent opportunity for some partnership working with other organisations.

Once all had participated we designed a workshop for the team. This provided a forum for the individual leaders within the team to review their development with their colleagues and to identify specfic aspects both as individuals and as a team they need to focus on in to the future. It was also an excellent opportunity to understand why the team functions the way it does and the consequents of this in line with the vision for the department.

I have undertaken many management courses over many years but none have compared to the vita-brevis experience.
I found the course refreshing, stimulating, creative and in many ways inspiring, but most importantly, it was different and made me realise I could make changes for the better both at work and in my personal life.
